Psalms 92:12-25 "The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh(oily & sappy) and flourshing(green) in old age; to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."
White hair, white beards, bald heads and wrinkles drove past me today on my walking route. "God's waiting room", that's what our friends in England call Florida. They tag this as the state to come to die.
This year I will turn 60. In no way do I consider myself old or past fruitfulness as some might. In fact I believe I will do more in my older years than I did in my younger years. The Lord's word to me promises me that! Glory to God! The righteous children of God who live to dwell in His presence will be "Fresh"(sappy) and "Flourishing" (green) in their old age!
The Bible also tells us that they who wait (look with hope and expectancy) on the Lord will renew their strength. They will also run and walk and not get tired or faint! At any age we can wonder if we are too young, too old, too late or just plain unable to really run the race set before us or to really be fruitful. Not so!
It is not about the color of your hair, the wrinkles on your face, the condition of your body or your bank account. If you wait in His presence and dwell on how BIG Jesus is IN you the oil of His Spirit will cause you to be strong and fruitful to the Glory and Praise of His Name. I fully expect to keep bearing fruit till I breathe my last breath. How about you?
