Great Peace

Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they who love your law (word) and nothing shall offend them.

A week or so ago I was going to write about this verse from a place of "total" victory. Smile. None of us have "arrived", least of all me. Yet, for a long time I have cherished the truth of this verse in psalm 119. I have always tried be quick to let go of offenses. I thought I had a handle on this truth.

However, this holiday season it happened...Maybe it happened to you too. Someone said a few hurtful things to me and I was offended. For a whole week I nursed those offenses. THEN, the WORD OF TRUTH came back to my mind. My response? Repentance. You see, my revelation of verse 165 looks like this; if I take offense and loose my peaceful place in God it is because I have chosen to move away from truth. No matter what anyone says or does to me, if I am walking in the "Word made flesh-Jesus", I can let it roll off of me.

Jesus said some thing like this, if they smack you on one cheek offer the other one.(paraphrased) The sense I have is that NOT TAKING OFFENSE will disarm your offender. A simple prayer I pray is, "Father forgive me for becoming offended and not loving the revelation and truth of your Word. Please restore your peace to me now, as I repent, in Jesus' name."

Deep hurts and wounds can be avoided because of the revelation of this scripture. Next time you are tempted to be offended, do what the firemen tell children to do if their clothes catch on fire.... STOP, DROP, and ROLL! STOP entertaining the offense. DROP to your knees and fall in love again with God and His Word. ROLL all your cares over to Him. Then, forgive the offender and bathe in Jesus' GREAT PEACE.
