James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Why don't we see more healing in our every day Christian walk? May I suggest that partially it is tied into a revelation locked in this scripture verse? "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other." We are quick to want to just pray for one another and to stand on the sentence:"the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." And yet the sick often stay sick! Emotionally and physically!
There is a key to unlock the power of this word. It is transparency! It takes true humility to be transparent and to confess our sinful thoughts and behaviors. I was raised Catholic and confession was a weekly ritual. I got in touch with my sins and confessed them to another person. However, back then the priest was in a box and a veil separated us from even seeing one another.
Let's get more real with each other. Let's become more accountable to one another. When we have sinned, we do go to the Father and repent and receive forgiveness in Jesus' name. But there is a healing to be had from confessing to one another. Being transparent,as little children, and bringing things out into the light breaks the power of darkness over our lives.
Do you need emotional or physical healing today? Find a trustworthy believer and confess your sins. Create an atmosphere of love where he/she can confess his or her sins to you. Then, as ones standing in fresh righteousness, pray for each other and watch your prayers become powerful and effective for the healing of your soul and body!
